How to Remove Vinyl and Prep for Tile Video

What will I see and learn from this video?

Putting new tile down usually means that the old floor needs to be removed. Vinyl is a common flooring material that doesn't hold up to water very well and needs to be removed before new tile gets installed. Removing vinyl over a wood sub-floor can be done and is fairly simple with just a few basic tools and some general knowledge of how to approach it. This video takes you through all the steps from beginning to end on how to remove vinyl and it's substrate which is generally plywood or particle board.

This particular bathroom gave me a little surprise with the plywood. It was actually under the cabinet which made this a great lesson. Remodel jobs are never exactly the same. Sometimes the vinyl comes up easy, other times it has so many staples or nails in it that it comes up in small pieces. After realizing that the plywood was under the cabinet, it was time to shift gears and think of a way to work around this without removing the entire cabinet which would be a huge task in itself. The goal is to not create more work...or damage and to stay on track of the original task which was to just remove the vinyl and get the floor ready for tile. Follow along in this one hour video and you will be a pro at demolition and prep work which is the key to any successful tile project.
